I have been living in York, PA, for a little over 2 years now, and the one thing I’ve learned about this county is that you don’t have to drive far to find a quiet corner of beauty. Last week, I rediscovered one of those lowkey gems, Farquhar Park in York, Pennsylvania. I have passed by this park many times, but last week I finally decided to stop by, as the fall foliage 2025 colors seemed particularly attractive to me.
What started as a casual evening walk has now turned into a daily ritual. Between the crisp autumn air, the golden leaves crunching underfoot, and the calm atmosphere of this local park, I can’t seem to stay away.
Getting to the Park
I drove from the West York area, which is barely a 10-minute trip depending on where you’re coming from. The park is located at 100 N Newberry St, York, PA 17401, making it easy to find on maps. There’s decent parking near the park entrances, especially if you go in the evenings when it’s less crowded.

If you’re someone who enjoys walking or biking, you can also access it from nearby neighborhoods and trails.
Fall Foliage Colors
When I first stepped into Farquhar Park this fall, I was honestly surprised by how colorful it had become. The trees looked like they were painted: deep reds, amber yellows, and shades of orange that shifted as the sun started to set. There’s something incredibly peaceful about seeing those colors of the fall foliage.

Now, I go almost every evening just to unwind after work. The park has a nice walking path that loops around open grassy areas and trees, making it perfect for people who like quiet walks without much traffic or noise.

Right next to Farquhar Park, there’s another smaller park area with a pond right in the middle. It’s one of my favorite spots. Ducks float lazily across the water, and the reflection of fall colors in the pond during golden hour is something I never get tired of. It’s a small but peaceful escape that feels far away from the city noise.
Things to Do In and Around
If you’re planning to visit, here are a few ideas to make the most of your time:
- Evening Walks: The paths are perfect for light exercise, evening strolls, or even casual jogs.
- Photography: Fall is the best time for photos; the colors are stunning, especially near the pond.
- Visit Nearby Attractions: You can easily make this a short day trip, explore Downtown York, the York Central Market, or Kiwanis Lake, all within a short drive.
- Watch the Sunset: Farquhar Park’s open areas give a beautiful view of the sky during sunset.

What makes Farquhar Park special isn’t just its beauty, it’s how close it feels to home. You don’t need to plan an entire day or drive hours to feel refreshed. Sometimes, a simple walk through a familiar place can remind you how beautiful your own backyard really is.
So if you’re in York, PA, or even just passing through this fall, stop by Farquhar Park. The fall foliage 2025 colors are at their peak right now.
